Transform pediatric emergency care with TI4PEC

Leverage the Tune Insight for Health learning platform to enhance diagnostic accuracy and treatment efficiency

Introduction

Tune Insight for Pediatric Emergency Care aims to transform pediatric emergency care through the deployment of innovative technology solutions.

It focuses on leveraging a federated learning platform to enhance diagnostic accuracy and treatment efficiency by enabling secure, real-time data sharing across various healthcare facilities.

While the primary goal is to improve healthcare outcomes, an underlying commitment to maintaining high standards of data privacy and security is woven through the project's operations.

WHAT DOES TI4PEC SEEK TO DO?

TI4PEC is a collaborative project which aims to overcome a key barrier in effective clinical research: the lack of large, international, collaborative data pipelines from complex health data. TI4PEC plans to tackle this issue through the development, deployment, and validation of a privacy-preserving federated learning platform for patient-centered research in pediatric emergency medicine. It will combine state-of-the-art interoperability techniques to address the challenges inherent to the use of routine electronic medical data, and cutting-edge privacy-preserving technologies to ensure compliance with international data protection regulations, thus developing a robust blueprint for its use in other collaborative clinical research applications.

WHY DO WE WANT TO DO IT

For effective clinical research, actionable insights must be generated from complex health data across multiple institutions, regions and data modalities. To date, such data pipelines are unavailable to clinical researchers, since transferring such massive-scale sensitive data to a central server is often impossible, due to the great variety of data formats, and the complex regulatory and patient-privacy landscape across different jurisdictions. The novel "sharing-without-sharing" and interoperability data science techniques that will be leveraged by TI4PEC will effectively tackle those issues, providing a valuable tool for researchers of the Paediatric Emergency Research Network (PERN) to significantly advance the care of acutely ill and injured children beyond the state-of-the-art.
