Roadmap

The TI4PEC Roadmap

Coordination
The coordination stage of TI4PEC focuses on aligning the various aspects of the project to ensure smooth progress and achievement of its objectives. The primary goal of this phase is to establish a robust coordination framework, ensuring that communication protocols, decision-making processes, timelines, roles and responsibilities, and the risk management plan are clearly defined and adhered to. This enables all stakeholders to collaborate effectively and efficiently towards a common goal.
Data preparation
This stage focuses on the extraction of datasets from routine hospital Emergency Department (ED) data including clinical data, laboratory, hematology values, point-of-care-testing results, imaging, other investigation results, treatments, and outcomes.
Deployment
The TI4Health platform will be deployed, as a pilot project within PERN, at 5 pediatric Emergency Departments (EDs), four located in Italy and one in Switzerland. In Italy the project will build on a national funded effort (PRIN: ConnAEctH PED), which includes implementation of data interoperability and harmonization at two pediatric EDs under the coordination of the University of Padua.
Privacy-preserving Federated Analytics
This stage is designed to enhance the platform's capabilities for the training of machine learning models in a privacy-preserving manner. The primary objective revolves around using the platform to facilitate the training of machine learning algorithms on Electronic Health Records (EHR) of federated Pediatrics Emergency Departments (PED) while maintaining robust privacy safeguards using cutting-edge Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PET) such as Multiparty Homomorphic Encryption (MHE) and Differential Privacy (DP) .
Evaluation
This stage centers on the comprehensive evaluation of the deployed TI4Health platform, encompassing both qualitative aspects of user experience and quantitative dimensions of performance assessment. The primary objective is to gauge the platform's performance and user experience, providing valuable insights to guide future developments and enhancements. This is achieved through a dual-pronged approach that encompasses qualitative evaluation, focusing on user experience, and quantitative assessment, emphasizing performance metrics.
Compliance
This stage focuses on ensuring robust legal and ethical compliance within the multi-center, cross-border research initiative. The primary objective is to establish a comprehensive framework that navigates the complexities of different legislations and ethical considerations, ensuring the responsible and ethical conduct of the project while safeguarding patient data, privacy, and stakeholder trust.
Dissemination
This stage focuses on the dissemination and utilization of the project's outcomes, innovations, and insights to amplify its impact and drive advancements in the field of pediatric emergency medicine. It serves as a bridge between the project's completion and its integration into broader scientific, healthcare, and societal contexts. Through targeted communication channels such as academic publications, conferences, seminars, workshops, and social media platforms, the project's findings will be made accessible, visible, and influential.
